Meet Michele L Weichman

Michele L Weichman is the founder and president of Weichy Wisdom, LLC and a passionate educator, editor, and mentor with more than 20 years of experience helping others communicate with clarity, creativity, and confidence.

Michele has proudly called the Virgin Islands home since she was 16 years old. She finished her high school and undergraduate years on the mainland — earning a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Rutgers University. Upon graduation, she moved back to St. Thomas permanently, later completing her Master’s in Education Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. Michele is currently a doctoral student at the University of Phoenix.

She currently serves as the main editor for VI Source, the territory’s leading online news outlet, overseeing daily content and ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all reporting. Her editorial work includes AP Style editing, grammar and structure support, fact-checking, and collaborating with reporters to strengthen their stories and elevate their voice.

Michele is also a certified copy editor through the Poynter Institute and holds TESOL/TEFL certification, making her uniquely equipped to support multilingual learners and English language learners.

Her teaching career spans grades 1 through 12, with leadership and instructional roles at the Virgin Islands Montessori School & Peter Gruber International Academy and All Saints Cathedral School. Throughout her career, Michele has remained committed to helping students grow not only academically, but also in confidence, organization, and self-expression.
